Embers of Lordaeron (www.eofl.wowstead.com)
I've been skeptical of putting myself into the position of Guild Leader for sometime but that's I believe due to the fact that I did this in DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online) for about four years and after a lengthy break from MMO I came back wanting something without responsibility. But eventually it seemed to me to be a good idea to try again.
The Embers was originally not my guild but my long term partners, however when I pulled all my characters into the guild, (due to the unfortunate demise of my friends guild) I took the guild on. We started off much like the DDO days, just mates and their mates. Slowly that's taken on a life of it's own and more and more people joined.
87 members today, that's a fair whack in the numbers value but it's a lot of alts too. I don't put caps on these things, I also don't care about how often people log, what they do when they log or how they go about having the fun they pay for.
This is my point, World of Warcraft should not be a job. It should not be required for people to log in, be active, sign up to raids... be involved or be kicked. I get monitored at work I really disagree with it at home on my time. Hence as a Guild Master you might think I am lapse but I firmly believe that people shouldn't feel constrained to do things by another. We all pay our money and want the time to enjoy ourselves, so I don't get mad if people don't log on for events.
Why am I so proud of Embers? Because we might not have a massive number of players but we do have a very friendly group, we have people that log in to chat, be social and if there is a group of us around to do something that's a brilliant bonus.
We will try raids, we will try heroics but there is such a great feeling that you log in and the people there are of a like mind. We have the ability to role play and organise ourselves to do so.
I don't like QQ and Ragequit, I don't like people who log in to complain they can't instantly get what THEY need from a guild. The guild is there for people who enjoy helping each other, chatting and relaxing. Last night showed that perfectly, groups of us going into dungeons at a leisurely pace, helping gear one another. A little happy banter and some silly trinkets later it was a log out with a very positive feel to it.
So today my pride is my friends, like minded people and a chance to enjoy things without pressure and conformity. Here's to you fellow members!
Thanks very much Rea, I love been in the Embers and you have to be the best, most friendliest guild leader ever, here's to the boss !
