Pugs are detrimental on so many levels... (also this applies to healers/dps
by the way as well as tanks). Pugs will not allow you to gear your alts
around each others workings, you cannot guarantee to win something that is
useful so Ninja's and other OS will take what you need.
As you get better you actually impede yourself by tanking in a pug due to
the fact that you have to work around your tanking skills being too good for
the dungeon. EG, a lot of builds are worked around you being hit to generate
abilities, healing etc. If you are actually over geared for the dungeons you
pug you look worse than you are as the bad guys can't hit you, therefore not
healing or generating agg. This makes the healer's life hard work as they
depend on your loss of hit points etc to allow half of their builds to kick
in mass heals... See where this is going?
The other draw backs, you are not using the PVE builds as you should because
if the DPS never get into a situatuon of "oh save me" they do not learn
their utility properly. The tank and healer consider your numbers to be more
important than tactics... So how does this end up making it worse for
everyone? Here goes!
* Raiding is built on tactics, team effort and communication. Part of the
reason you 5 man is to take a miniaturised level of this, to learn your
part. Pugs cannot communicate, or rather refuse to. The elitists do not
consider it worthy of their time, the noobs become scared to ask. Overall
result - silent run, kick over nothing... Never learn your part.
* PVP it's actually easier to gear up with this. You don't need to know
tactics, rewards are instant. You learn sweet fa about your role in PVE but
you look the nuts on the gearscore... Never learn your part.
* Abuse - there's never a reason for it, people are easily offended due to
the complete anonimity of the situation. Had they spoken to you in a bar
like that you'd probably nut them, but as it stands their childish/insecure
ways lead to a superiority that they could never master in life. Result -
you have a brain, you feel like it's your doing... Forget it! They are
obviously socially defective and therefore pug as their guilds don't work
together or they are just in there to collect the rewards.
* Guild - you're in one! Why not work with those people? Encourage the guild
rewards system, use your bank repairs... Whatever you do don't waste the
fact you got a bunch of like minded people in one place. Results - you learn
your part, you communicate, you work out tactics, you therefore are a better
team of people in raids.
Overall - I am not going to care if I come bottom of the foodchain on wow
progress and why? My money is better spent on MY happiness not others, if I
get it when I have worked for it I am a happy person. If I got it by sheer
random luck it's just a cop out I can do without. So I for one choose not to
Pug. I am a person, I will commit my life to enjoying it that way. I will
learn my part!
Cheers

Cockmunch - the analysis
Hi tis me! Of course it’s me, who else was going to write that. Well it is first day back at work and so reality has had to hit me like a jack hammer. Shame really the week out of touch has been wonderful! Not least of all of the good things that happened was that my healing Paladin reached her lich king stripes, the Kingslayer title is not Trizzie’s, and boy is she proud! Trizzie was formally a tank before I re-specked her; gave her some nice clothes and decided that in the interest of the guild my talents would best lay in that field. I also levelled my druid up to 80, now I don’t pug but I was being lazy and decided that I would take the easy ride of dungeons and pugs. I will call this an experiment of some kind, here are my observations – I shall refer to my druid as Subject X, the tank is Subject A, the healer is Subject B and the two other DPS I shall include in my subtext of Subject X. Subject X is level 76, like everyone around that level that has played before they know what gear to get for the level. Subject X has got things from quests, has a few enchantments and the right things for the level. Subject B, being a level 75 healer does what I consider a great job of keeping everyone alive. No wipes, no death, no nothing. Subject A, has been replaced, the previous left or was kicked. I cannot remember but he is replaced, in the way that all expendables are in war. Subject A is now improved and is level 77, he is what I like to call the “cockmunch.” Allow me to explain this phenomenon known only in the world of “never been told to shut the hell up before”. Subject A, level 77 now has access to Cataclysm (or as I call it easycraft) gear and has probably got them off his guildies (I cannot bring myself to say friends), or an alt. Well that’s cool, you uber op your character and spam the old dungeons. You don’t need the gear but the JP’s are a head start etc etc… So we set out on our merry way, Subject A assumes the position and surprise buttsex is committed on pretty much everything there. He is a DK with 4k damage, threat and blitzes it. Nice right? Yeah two things… Subject B is not allowed a mana break, is expected to run along as the whirling dervish of Subject A continues. Subject X? Well let’s just say as a collective on the spawning dish they barely get the creatures down before the next fight starts. Subject A finishes his run of glory and leaves with the parting gold of the “Cockmunch” – ‘your dps was shit guys’. He is gone before the rest of the experiment is given a chance to look at the situation or in one case allow him to get to the boss before the fight ended. Let me explain Cockmunch – Cockmunch has one thing in his life, WOW. He (and she of course) refer to themselves as “pro” they consider the rest of them as “noob” and anyone that outperforms them is “op geared” or some other excuse I care not to bother listing. Cockmunch has also listed himself as the one to tell you how to play the game, obviously everyone but Cockmunch cannot enjoy it because the selfish little charlatan of life has decided he rocks. (Watch the South Park episode to know what these people look like!) So the rest of us chuckle at Subject A, wish each other luck and head off. My conclusion to the experiment? Cockmuncher’s really do munch on cock’s, their own. They sit in their little room with their little toys and an orgasm to them is being the best in a random pug or battleground. I must commend them, they have truly helped the selective breeding process, they have in effect by being jerks in their room on a pc 24/7 removed themselves from the breeding pool. Ta da! Archard

Facerolls and funtimes

Well it's the third day of my holiday and I have sort of been behaving, I've done housework mixed with a little gaming. I spent yesterday having a good old time making my Death Knight macros to the point I think I could sleep on the keyboard haha!
I don't just play WOW by the way, I am a bit of a fanatical Final Fantasy fan and I also adore Full Metal Alchemist not to mention other games and anime I watch. To be honest I probably need twice the hours I get of a day to cram all the things I want to go into them haha!
The irony is that by the time I have retired I bet none of it will be something I'd watch or my kids and grandkids (if I ever have them) would be mocking me to hell. Ah such is life eh?
Today's sad mission amongst many is to clear my study out. I have some serious issues with books being all over the place but I can't get rid of them.
In fact I should probably mention here, my partner has had to put up with me for several years suffering the fact that along with depression I have mild OCD. I am medicated for these things but they still impact the day to day affairs at times. The hardest part of it comes down to work, to proving that it's actually reality depression will affect things I do. It may not stop me from getting out of bed, or even doing bits around the house but some days the idea of facing other people can make me feel physically sick.
Oh well, today however I am going to be meeting up with the postman. I promised my friend a film in the post!
Cheers

Holidays and lore lawyers
I couldn't be happier! A whole week off to myself to clean up the house, sort out my shit and happily game. Of course I also have some art work to finish, writing to sort. I am happy to get my ass in gear and get on with it. This could be the start of something good... well let's see.
WOW updates... Embers has been slowly growing and all by word of mouth and happiness. I am so proud that everyone in my guild is a nice person and helpful to one another. When we set out to make a guild it was complete reluctance on my part to dedicate more time to something I may not be able to do, however my partner and friends are very supportive.
I am addicted to alts on the game, because I love making stories for them. Sitting at work listening to customers complain is pretty damned stressful so when I get home gaming is a great escape. Not to mention it means I get to think about my ideas whilst sat there listening to someone tell me how inadequate I am without ever having met me.
I won't put his name on this blog but I will tell you that those who know me are gonna either roll their eyes or giggle. Let us refer to him for now as "CO" like Carbon Monoxide he is a poison to the role play server.
CO has decided that he is there for one purpose - "to enforce role play" but he seems to have lost the plot with it. Role players all have their own ideas of things, their own plans for their own characters. Sometimes those ideas and those stories are not completely Canon to the game. Well? Does it REALLY affect you? I mean look at the facts, it's not physically going to harm you, it's not breaking and real life laws and it's NOT going to be a problem if you never interact and role play with them right?
Not to CO our local friendly poisoner, he spends his day around the city of Stormwind waiting for people to role play in a way he doesn't like then tells them. He reports the smilies, OOC chat and then starts a war about general. At the end of the day he single handedly ends up bringing the city role play to a stand still and the irony is he thinks everyone is wrong but him.
Now I have a basic easy rule, if someone is out of character and it's a disruptive level simply put them on ignore, raise a ticket if it is offensive. I simply cannot work out how CO thinks it's productive to be disruptive but having said that... CO is now neutralised and my poison has been cleansed thanks to another burst of /ignore
And now... I shall head off and carry on with my cleaning!

End of an Era?

Well I am not the only one that logged in to find my lovely original guild had been disbanded. I'm not going to complaint about it because I understand, I just think it's a shame when a guild has to go due to inactivity or such. Then again I remember that was how it was for me years ago when I ran one in another MMO...
Today I am running one called Embers of Lordaeron (website here) which I have to admit was only going to be me and my partner originally. Now it seems I've ended up with so many new, good friends, that the guild is naturally growing.
Aside from gaming, I've been enjoying my book on Haunted America. It's a collection of stories from various States about their ghosts. It then let to me looking for some random Videos... Yes I am subjection myself to the woes of awful fakes.. but some are really clever. Some I don't know how to explain, it's those I really take too.
So if you find any do post them here
Thanks
